I am experiencing what everyone describes as a writer’s block. It is partly my computer’s fault for crashing at a very convenient moment but mostly my brain for rummaging into insignificant thoughts. After my senior year commenced this month, it has been a disaster. I have reached a stage where I do not know what I am going to do with my life or what is the purpose of my mere existence. College seems like a far, far nightmare. Everybody waxes eloquence about the importance of college and an organized future and I have even had talks about a backup plan if, perhaps, what I intend to do (more on that later) doesn’t work. I do not even know what I am having for dinner in twenty minutes; let alone what degree I want. Gah, abysmal reality.

Anywho enough with the mid-adolescence crises. Color blocking has been the overhyped trend for the past two years and even got featured in our biannual Delhi fashion week passionately. It has basically spread like a wildfire especially as a necessary street style contingent. Therefore, I thought of experimenting with it, subtly, of course. Neon green pants with a bubble gum top are a grotesque amalgamation.  I also wanted to talk about these sweet leather boots. The very purpose of winter season (as well as the season when winter fades that cannot be labeled for a separate season in Delhi), is donning a pair of these lovelies. And how I snagged them is a pretty interesting anecdote. They were lying desolate in a Zara store size of which was gigantic for a normal Deli girl, but ideal for me. I grabbed them, kissed them secretly when I saw at such a steal deal they were. And when they put it in a bag, I jumped in delight that resulted for the Zara security guard to have a good laugh.   

Anyhow, I have to scoot and practice trigonometry whilst listening to Jeff Buckley’s epic Grace (album). Serenity.

I did an impromptu outfit post just before I left for fashion week on Day 4. I have some amazing excerpts from the rest of the days there. This was the first time I attended the whole five day long event and were probably the most exciting days of my life. The air was infectious filled with talks about what the designer showed, who is donning what and basically an open bar for the media (score!)

I should be submerged into the copious amount of syllabi lying next to me of the finals come-forth but as usual, I am a mess. Not wanting to touch math for a while, I find solace in the ongoing New York Fashion Week. Alice + Olivia, Thakoon and Marc Jacobs have been my favorites till now, but honestly, I look forward to the street style and backstage trends more than the actual runway show. Primarily, because it offers more insight on the ongoing trend at the other side of the world with their own (often quirky) twist. I followed the couture week rather closely which took place in Paris last month. The major perk of couture as opposed to RTW  is the whole exclusivity and the community feeling. The couture is an exclusive club which has been pioneered by some of the greatest known designers (Balmain, Chanel, Valentino) and brings fashion to another platform of art. Meticulously designed gowns, whilst focusing on every detail makes me want to attend a couture week a bit more than RTW. The Indian couture week has also gained a lot of momentum the recent years. Our greatest strength actually lies in self- tailored attires.

The weather has been nice, with spring showering at us. It is possible to wear decent amount of clothes with a blazer- a brief period of time in Delhi as it is closely accompanied with scorching heat.  Therefore, I thought I would wear this dress as it expresses everything spring to me. However, I experimented with them with Converse, as I am a person who lives in a pair of her All Stars. I got this bracelet from the recent sales in Promod at a whooping price (score!). The blazer is my sister’s which she left at the back of her closet so I thought I would use it to its full potential. What is more chic than a white shirt, jeans, heels and a blazer? With the right accessories (statement necklace, neon bag or even a fedora), it can be your most coveted outfit.

I have been wanting to post for a long time but somehow the thought always vanishes replaced with and/or school work. Procrastination is my worst enemy. Anywho, I just wanted to wish all the readers a Happy New Year! 2012 was big for Lace Grass Hues in many ways in terms of viewership. Though I just posted 8 (YES, eight) times the whole year- an abysmal number. Therefore, I start out with a photo- heavy post just to keep things interesting.

Since it is my first time outfit posting I just though I would keep the whole outfit safe and clean. I got this leather bag from the recent sale at mango. With its impeccable cut and size, the bag echoes professionalism with a casual approach.

The golden studded blazer is from Kazo. Studs have been a big trend this season and a studded blazer has been a staple for every fashionista!

My mother got me this dress from New Look, London last year. Plain black dress with Peplum details is something which I have had on my wishlist for a long time. Peplum just gives the dress more definition and texture thus making it more interesting.

I also wanted to talk about the Pre-Fall collections that have been going on. Alexander Wang, Celine, Chanel, Givenchy and Acne are some of my favorites. Since my posts have been deficient, I also wanted to talk about Balenciaga employing Alexander Wang as their head. The news shocked me mainly because I couldn’t connect the fashion house with the young designer. But hopefully, Alexander Wang wont fail to stun us in collaboration with the house as well!

I have posts pented up of October which was rather eventful for two things: Will’s Lifestyle India Fashion Week as well as my collaboration with Liberty India for a product review.

I attended Atsu Sekhose’s show at the WIFW this time. With major ass kicking from school, I barely had time to go for this show let alone be at the venue the whole time (which I seriously want to; for once). Anyway, Atsu incorporated North Eastern fabrics with western silhouettes- a rather coveted amalgamation. However, the execution lacked definition partly because the show was EPICALLY late (45 minutes, tch tch) but also one of the models slipped on the ramp. It did look rather difficult to walk on.

Also, I collaborated with Liberty India to review their recently launched clogs. Comfort fashion has always been under speculation with designers like Alexander Wang donning it in their collection. Clogs have rather enhanced this trend by keeping comfort as a  strong subtext. I was sent a pair of clogs for a week to strut around and test them and they proved to be rather comforting. With a bit of heel they gave the legs a bit of shape too.

Recently, I have been following Death Cab for Cutie lot and am on the verge of stalking. I was sold after I heard Soul Meets Body and then I heard the most amazing album ever: Something about Airplanes. The title of the post is my favorite song of now, check it out too.

My midterms got over last Friday and subsequently I attended an informal afternoon tea at Crabtree and Evelyn’s boutique for bloggers. Crabtree is celebrating their 40th anniversary even though it has come  relatively recently in New Delhi but has probably created that same set of worshipers like in those of London. Their boutique was rather cute and contained their new ranges including some specifically for India!

We got hand massages (perfect timing after exams) and had cupcakes (I KNOW!).  So all in all it was rather fun! I met new people along with introspecting their collections like their Jasmine and Lavender hand and body scrubs (my favorite) and I think I tried on their Lavender hand scrub which smelled very fresh.

After a lot of drafts and post – ideas, I have come up with this post which mainly outlines the ten reasons on how I wasted my last five months.

1. I interned for an Indian Fashion Retail website this summer which basically meant going and coming back the opposite side of Delhi every week + brainstorming (or not)
2. We had a summer for exactly a month after which exam papers were pushed into our desks. So I spent my free time the whole summer trying to study.
3. It’s so hot, I want to cry
4. I have been trying to write a short story whose title has been tentatively named “Elapse”. I will try to get it published by the end of this year
5. I have decided to give my SATS and IELTS this year so I have been trying to study for those too.
6. Differentiation is a bitch
7. Spend my time listening to Death Cab for Cutie, Band of Horses, Laura Marling and Good old Elliot
8. Looking for more blogging jobs
9. I am a highly lazy person whose best friend is the couch in her room and a lot of Diet Coke.
10. I have been watching to much Fight Club. Yep, that’s a reason

So anywho, I just wanted to talk about how Gaga is donning Vogue again after March for their hyped September issue. I went on to Fashionista where they posted all the major magazine covers for September, which frankly, seems highly disappointing. I mean the covers are not artistic at all but highly commercial. But I rather liked Bazaar’s UK cover with Keira Knightly.

On a brighter note, Badgley Mischka celebrated 24 years in fashion! Happy anniversary guys!
